Transcript of the Plattsburgh Sentinel, July 26, 1872. Page 3, Column 3.

The Golden Wedding of Mr. Levi Jones and his wife, of Salmon River, was celebrated with spirit on Thursday of last week, July 18th. He was the first white child born in the town of Schuyler Falls. His wife's father was the first white child born in the town of Manchester, Vermont; and he was also the first white man ever married in that town.
Some years ago, when those facts were published, a Manchester paper added to the statement that he was the first man married, a further statement that he was "also the (unreadable) the venerable gentleman, then still surprising, having just married for the last time at over ninety years of age.
It was a pleasing incident, that the first public administration of the holy communion in the Episcopal Church (to which Mr. and Mrs. Jones have been the devotedly attached for more than thrity years), had already been fixed for the morning of that Thursday, without any (unreadable) of its being so interesting an anniversary in the family annals.
At eight o'clock in the morning, there were fourteen communicants in the parlor of that ancient homestead; and designs for a chapel of the Episcopal Church were seen and approved, and an effort to erect it will at ones be made, in hope that the venerable couple may yet see the reality of that which they have longed for, during so many years. Later in the day, the house was filled - not withstanding the heavy rain early in the afternoon and the premise of mor not long after - filled by relatives, friends and neighbors; and (unreadable) and singing, conversation and collation, appropriately graced the festivities, to say nothing of the beautiful gifts to which came from the hands and hearts of those nearest to the venerable couple.
