Mr. and Mrs. Albert H. Tuttle, of Charlottesville, Va., have announced the engagement of their daughter, Clara, to Mr. William Ramsey Probasco.
Mrs. Tuttle is the elder daughter of Prof. Tuttle, who for about twenty years has filled the chair of biology in the University of Virginia, and a granddaughter of the late Mr. Henry B. Tuttle, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mr. Boudinot Seeley, of Ironton, Ohio, both of whom were prominently connected with the early iron industry of that State.
Mr. Probasco is the son of Mr. Harry Probasco, of Cincinnati. He is a graduate of the law school of the University of Cincinnati and has recently located in New York City. No date has been set for the wedding.

Mrs. Bertha Barlett Sherman, widow of Charles M. Sherman and a descendant of Josiah Bartlett, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, died on Monday in Winter Park, Fla. Mrs. Sherman, who had made her home for many years at 109 East Fifty-fifth Street, was 79 years old.
She was the daughter of the late Maj. Gen. Joseph J. Barlett, who had served as Ambassador to Norway and Sweden.
Surviving are three children, Hoyt Sherman, president of the Gulf Oil Company of Caracas, Venezuela; Col. John Bartlett Sherman, U. S. A., retired, of Winter Park, who was chief of the United States mission to Belgium during World War II, and Mrs. Walter W. Stokes, wife of former State Senator Stokes of Cooperstown, N. Y.
